Journal of Southern Religion Inaugural Conference

Welcome to online preregistration for "Religion in the American South: Toward a Renewed Scholarship," October 21-23 at Emory University. Registration for the conference is being heavily subsidized by conference sponsors and will be limited to 100 persons, so please register promptly.

DATES AND LOCATION

The conference will open with President Jimmy Carter's address at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, October 21, in Glenn Memorial and will end late Saturday afternoon, October 23. All sessions on Friday and Saturday will be held at the Emory Conference Center on the campus of Emory University.

REGISTRATION FEES

The registration fee of $75 ($25 for students) will include a continental breakfast and lunch on Friday and Saturday.

The Saturday luncheon with Ambassador Andrew Young is included in the registration fee. Please indicate below whether you will attend this luncheon.

We will host a dinner on Thursday evening, after President Carter's opening address. Please indicate if you will attend this dinner at a cost of $30 per person.

We ask that you make your own airline reservations by calling World Travel Partners (800) 562-8625. Be sure to mention that you will be attending this conference.

ACCOMODATIONS

PLEASE NOTE that the conference coincides with Parents' Weekend at Emory. Because of this, hotel rooms in the area may be scarce. We STRONGLY urge you to make hotel reservations as soon as possible. NB: Area hotels have agreed to hold some rooms for the conference until September 6. We have blocked off several rooms at the Emory Inn (800-933-6679). We have also reserved a very limited number of rooms at the Emory Conference Center. Be sure to tell hotel staff that you are coming for the conference.
